  1. Certainly the best Peter Hammill solo release for several years, and the man has produced so many albums and so many memorable songs. This one feels just right for his stage of life and his advancing years. His lyrics are always deep and powerful but these seem even more personal. I can't remember having listened so closely to lyrics on album /5(16).

  2. The Second Hand, with it's simple bass groove pulsates the lyrics about how fool's can waste their lives. Trappings has a cool folk/rock arrangement, and connects well topically with the simple introspection of Mousetrap and then the violent echoing of Energy Vampires/5(22).

To set a context for this review I will tell you that I loved virtually everything Peter Hammill did in the 70s, only part of the 80s and 90s and for this century, only the past few years, for the most part. This brilliant artist is a creative machine when it /5(21).
